Evelyn Mae (Bachkora) was born June 29, 1918, in rural Sherman County to Frank and Julia (Beranek) Bachkora. Evelyn was educated at District 42 in Sherman County and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1935. She graduated from Kearney State College in 1948.
She taught both rural and town schools for nine years including schools of Bluff Center (Hall County), Sod Town (Buffalo County), Soulleville (Sherman County), Hazard, Hyannis, Kearney and North Platte before returning for her final two years of college. She also graduated as a nurse’s aide and worked in North Platte and Kearney.
Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Altar Society, the Ravenna Garden Club, Ravenna Genealogical and Historical Society, the Railroad Association and WFLA Lodge 152 Farwell.
Evelyn passed away Dec. 24, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
